Busting myths & encouraging conversations – CISI financial planning week

12 September 2022

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment has called upon the UK financial planning community to get behind national Financial Planning Week and encourage consumers to take control of their finances.

The 2022 Financial Planning Week, due to take place 3 – 9 October comes as the cost of living soars and the nation faces rising inflation and interest rates.

This year’s theme is busting myths around financial planning and encouraging conversations around finances.

Sally Plant, assistant director, financial planning and education development at CISI (pictured), said: “It has never been more important to get the message out, that financial literacy is an important tool for life and financial planning is an essential part of wellbeing and mental fitness.

“Financial Planning Week helps raise awareness about the role of qualified financial planners in helping people from all walks of life and ages and importantly, not just the wealthy, to think ahead and plan for the future.”

CISI said efforts will focus on driving people towards the website Wayfinder, which allows consumers across the UK to search for their nearest certified financial planner or accredited financial planning firm.

A social media awareness campaign will run across the 10 days in the lead up to Financial Planning Week, highlighting some of the most important trends financial planners are seeing in 2022 and identify their key pieces of advice.

CISI is encouraging financial planners to join the campaign by sending in their tips, tools or guides.
