Aberdeen Investments has launched a new fund, amid growing demand for macro strategies as investors seek to navigate an increasingly complex macro environment.
The Macro Opportunities Fund is designed to help investors diversify portfolios in challenging market conditions.
The strategy is launching with $110 million in assets under management and is led by Maximilien Macmillan, head of macro investments, multi asset.
It will invest across a range of global opportunities, actively adjusting positions as economic and market conditions change. This approach is designed to provide resilience in challenging markets, while capturing emerging opportunities, the firm said.
Maximilien Macmillan, head of macro investments, multi asset at Aberdeen Investments, commented: “Investors are operating in a market environment shaped by persistent inflation uncertainty, evolving monetary policy and heightened geopolitical risk. These forces are creating a broader range of outcomes across asset classes and increasing the importance of macroeconomic trends in driving investment returns.
“Macro Opportunities has been designed to help investors navigate that environment. By combining portfolio resilience with the ability to take targeted macro positions across global markets, the strategy seeks to provide differentiated sources of return and diversification while maintaining a disciplined approach to risk management.”
Aberdeen Investments said it is seeing increasing discretionary interest in its macro investment capabilities, managed by the same team and drawing on the same underlying research and investment philosophy.
John McCareins, chief client officer at Aberdeen Investments, added: “As economic and market cycles become more complex, investors are looking for alternative approaches that can complement traditional asset allocations and access a broader opportunity set.
“The strategy launches with substantial assets already committed and there is a strong pipeline of interest from both internal and institutional investors. We believe macro investing is becoming an increasingly important component of portfolio construction as clients seek greater resilience and more diversified sources of return.”
