Quilter Cheviot launches internship programme

Quilter Cheviot has launched a 12-month internship programme to help people kick start a career in investment management.

The firm has enrolled four interns in its London office, as well as two interns in the Birmingham office, after it received over 700 applications.

Applicants were not required to have a university degree. Instead, interns will study for their Level 3 Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment exam over the course of the year as they rotate across different areas of the business. Quilter Cheviot said interns will receive exposure to a range of teams, including research, investment risk, responsible investment, marketing, operations, front office as well as sales and distribution.

Andrew McGlobe, chief executive at Quilter Cheviot, said: “Having joined this business as a trainee nearly 30 years ago, I am particularly pleased to introduce our Investment Management Intern Programme, which will provide committed and talented individuals from all backgrounds with the chance to break into the wealth management industry.”

McGlobe said its objective is to help develop the “skills, knowledge and connections the next generation needs to succeed in this field” and introduce fresh perspectives and diversity of thought to the business.

“We are excited to see what this group can bring to Quilter Cheviot and the opportunities that will arise through the likes of mentorship from our experienced team. I am delighted to welcome these ambitious individuals to our business and look forward to watching them develop over the 12-month period and, hopefully, beyond,” McGlobe added.
