Boutique asset manager Gravis Capital Management has become a certified B Corporation.

The company joins 8,596 businesses across 98 countries that have been awarded a B Corp certificate, demonstrating a high standard of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, alongside a commitment to goals that go beyond shareholder value.

The B Corp Certification assesses the entirety of a business’ operations, covering governance, workers, community, environment and customers.

The firm said it had achieved an overall score of 99.4 points on the B Impact Assessment, where a minimum of 80 points is required to achieve B Corp status.

Phil Kent, CEO of Gravis, said: “We are immensely proud to be joining the B-Corp community, standing alongside companies that share our values and are paving the way for change in the asset management sector. The way we see it, the most reliable returns are linked to the most needed and most sustainable assets. We screen for investments that align with our values, promote sustainability and benefit society.”

Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, added: “We are delighted to welcome Gravis to the B Corp community. This is a movement of companies that are committed to changing how business operates and believe business really can be a force for good. We know that Gravis is going to be a fantastic addition to the community and will continue driving the conversation forward.”
