CISI head of financial planning calls on Paraplanners to ‘get involved’

19 June 2019

Jackie Lockie, head of Financial Planning at the CISI, called on paraplanners to “get involved” with the professional body and to help spread the word about financial planning, particularly during Financial Planning Week 7- 11 October and World Financial Planning Day on 3 October.

She also urged paraplanners to enter the CISI Paraplanner of the Year award, the deadline for which was rapidly approaching – midnight 21 June. The award this year has a £750 prize for the winner and £250 prize for the runner up.

Paraplanners have first to answer a set of multiple choice questions in a ‘knock-out’ stage. The five paraplanners who get the highest scores will go through to the next round, in which they will be sent a case study and asked to write a mini financial plan. The two plans considered to be the best by the judges will go through to the interview round, on 4 September, to fight it out for the award.

Lockie said financial planning within the CISI was thriving, with the Paraplanner Interest Group having grown fourfold in the past three years to now number 1,600 paraplanners.

She called on paraplanners to attend their local branches and get involved in the Paraplanner Interest Group and Financial Planning Week. In particular she said, the Paraplanner Interest Group committee was looking for new people to join.
