Quilter Cheviot says advisers increasingly need solutions that separate short-term cash requirements from longer-term investment objectives, prompting the launch of a dedicated liquidity portfolio alongside enhancements to its managed portfolio service range.
Managing short-term cash requirements without disrupting a client’s long-term investment strategy remains a key challenge for advisers and portfolio managers.
Quilter Cheviot has launched a dedicated Liquidity MPS, designed to provide a home for capital needed in the near term while allowing longer-term assets to remain invested according to a client’s risk profile and objectives.
The new portfolio, which launches on 30 October, invests predominantly in high-quality money market funds and is intended to support clients with planned withdrawals or shorter-term capital needs.
It can be used on a standalone basis or alongside Quilter Cheviot’s existing Building Blocks and Index+ managed portfolio services.
The launch reflects a broader focus on portfolio construction and the role liquidity can play within an overall investment strategy, particularly at a time when advisers are increasingly balancing income requirements, sequencing risk and cash-flow planning with longer-term growth objectives.
Alongside the launch, Quilter Cheviot has broadened its index-tracking MPS offering, rebranding the range from IDX to Index+ and expanding it to cover seven risk levels.
The portfolios combine predominantly passive investments with active alternatives accessed through the firm’s Building Block funds.
Michelle Andrews, managing director, distribution at Quilter Cheviot, said: “Over the past 25 years, advisers have navigated changing tax rules, new regulations, evolving technologies, shifting client needs and geopolitical turmoil.
“Throughout it all, experienced investment management and diversified portfolios have remained essential. The continued growth of managed portfolio services reflects that enduring need.”
She added: “Choice matters in a highly personalised market. By introducing a liquidity strategy and an enhanced index range, we are helping advisers serve a broader range of clients without compromising asset allocation discipline or cost efficiency.”
The firm’s Building Block structure, introduced five years ago, combines direct equities, bonds and external fund holdings to provide targeted exposure across regions and asset classes.
Quilter Cheviot says the approach is designed to improve transparency and support cost-effective portfolio construction.
Commenting on the developments, Simon Doherty, head of managed portfolio services at Quilter Cheviot, said: “Advisers need investment solutions that deliver strong outcomes and demonstrate clear value for the costs and charges clients pay.”
He added: “The Liquidity MPS and Index+ range are designed to do exactly that, offering actively managed portfolios across risk profiles with distinct investment approaches and cost points.”
