Cathi Harrison’s Verve Group expands with adviser business software launch

28 September 2023

The Verve Group has launched new software designed to help advice firms operate their business from a single dashboard.

The software, Dextera, initially went live to existing services clients in July but is now available as a standalone tech. It provides oversight of a firm’s compliance, team, training and business operations and provides a framework and central place to collaborate on regulatory and operational matters.

The Verve Group plans to introduce further integrations with other key pieces of software in the future, providing a single ‘business operating dashboard’ for advice firms.

Cathi Harrison, chief executive of The Verve Group, (pictured) said: “I know first-hand the challenges of running and growing a business. Wanting to see everything that’s happening at my firm in one place. Needing proactive reminders of key business functions and getting additional, flexible resources as and when needed. These aren’t challenges to advise firms, they apply to all businesses.

“With the launch of Dextera, firms can operate their actual back office functions such as regulation, business operations and team management from a single place and with the planned integrations, all their key information will also sit on a single dashboard. Dextera is unique in providing a business view, not just focusing on clients and their assets, and my belief is that a central place to see the important highlights in a firm is more important than us trying to build a single piece of tech that does absolutely everything.”

Harrison said to date, technology has been forcing integrations between lots of software which often overlaps, causing friction between the two.

She continued: “We don’t believe a single piece of tech can or should do everything. Certainly not for something as multi-layered and complex as an advice firm. Instead, the tech should help simplify the running of a business. It should be used to provide peace of mind to the business owner and a go-to resources of all the important factors in their firm.”

Ollie Reeves, head of development at The Verve Group, said: “The vision for Dextera from the outset has been to create a piece of technology which acts as the right hand to an advice firm. We’ve focused on building a really intuitive system which makes the day-to-day life of running an advice firm so much easier so that the advisers can focus on the advice and their end clients.”

Commenting on the launch, Anthony Rafferty, chief executive of Origo, said: “Financial services has been in need of innovation and progression, particularly with technology, for many years and the Dextera system is a much needed injection of both into the challenges advice firms face. Bringing a pragmatic approach to running a business overall is a new angle which will help shape the future of finance and fintech as we know it.”
