The Association of Investment Companies (AIC) has introduced a number of enhancements to its website theaic.co.uk to make it even easier for investors to research, compare and shortlist potential investments.
Investment trusts can now be filtered by a number of additional data points using the Compare investment companies tool. As well as being able to filter by AIC sector, region and management group, investment trusts can now be screened by performance, ongoing charge, dividend yield, market cap, discount and gearing, as well as more specialised filters such as domicile, dividend frequency, dividend cover and whether or not a performance fee arrangement is in place.
Meanwhile, a new interactive charting feature gives a clear visual snapshot of up to five investment trusts at a time, making it easy to see how their performance compares to each other, to sector averages or market indices over time periods of your choosing. The discount chart available for each investment trust has been improved and a new yield chart is now available. Performance charts can now be customised to show returns in pounds rather than percentages.
The is intended to make it simpler for investors and advisers to find investment trusts that meet specific criteria, or build shortlists of potential investments based on an investor’s individual needs.
Nick Britton, Research Director of the Association of Investment Companies (AIC), said: “We looked at what information is most important to investors when committing money to a trust and have changed the design and functionality of parts of the website to ensure that information is presented as clearly as possible. The AIC’s website was already a best-in-class source of information about investment trusts, but it is now even easier and more intuitive to use.
“The enhanced features will be useful for DIY investors, financial advisers and their clients who want to identify trusts that meet their individual needs and preferences.”
