‘Think Big’, delegates at the first Business and Operations Management Network™ (BOMS) conference were told, alongside ‘Strategy tops Tactics’, as speakers inspired delegates to recognise their skills and talents, to step up, take control and help the businesses they work in achieve even greater success.
The event, held on 11 September in London Bridge, brought together 60+ operations managers, primarily from financial advice/planning firms, to hear from a range of speakers on subjects including running a successful business, through using AI, building a great culture, health and safety, neural psychology and dealing with vulnerabilities.
Also on the agenda were 6 awards, recognising the skills, talents and importance of the operations manager role.
The event was the culmination of a year of building the BOMS movement, the brain child of Michelle Hoskin and executed by the Standards International team.
Michelle Hoskin said: “When we set up BOMS just over a year ago we saw the need to bring together this incredible community of individuals, all doing a fantastic job for their businesses but often in isolation and needing to know they are not alone. BOMS is about giving them access to a network which blends coaching, learning, consulting and community.
“BOMS is the place business and operations managers can interact with their peers to the benefit of all. We’re also building development courses that will help operational professionals elevate their careers and contribute more to their business.
“Our first event was a microcosm of our community, buzzing with enthusiasm. We couldn’t have asked for more.
“We also want to help new joiners to quickly get up to speed with what it takes to be a great operational manager. We have launched the first in a series of courses to help new and existing operational managers progress their careers. We’ve found that paraplanners looking to take their career in a different direction can find a career shift into operations management very rewarding.
“The BOMS conference has been the icing on the cake of our initial year. I am immensely proud of what we’ve achieved to date and there is more, much more to come.”
