According to the latest Origo Transfer Index (OTI) figures, the average simple pension transfer times over the latest period remain at the 10-day mark, which is the quickest in two years.
Figures from Origo, detail that simple transfers were completed in an average of 10 days over the period from 1st July 2025 through to 30th June 2026.
This comes on the heels of transfer times hitting this timescale for the first time since September 2024 earlier this year (for the period April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026).
Simple transfers (which account for nearly 90% of all transfers on the Origo Transfer Service) relate to a company’s performance when they have more control over the process for relatively straightforward pension assets moving away from their business.
The overall pension transfer times for the period, which includes more complex cases where providers may need additional information from third parties -over the same time period, came in at 11 days.
The Origo Transfer Index
Origo’s Transfer Index tracks the pension transfer times of almost 30 voluntary participants from its pension transfer service, including all of the big pension providers in the industry.
Performance is measured on how long it takes the ceding provider to transfer the request, including any due diligence and divestment of funds before sending the customer’s money to the acquiring provider.

Transfer times are an important industry bellwether and constitute a valuable metric for consumer experience across financial services.
“Seeing such solid and steady performance is encouraging, especially given that numerous major regulatory changes, such as IHT for pensions, are on the horizon over the next half of the year and into 2027.
“These could have significant implications for consumer behaviour and, by extension, transfers, so it’s incredibly encouraging to see the notable recent improvements consolidated across the board.”
