Copia teams up with Wesleyan to launch smoothed managed portfolio range

23 January 2026

Copia Capital Management has launched a smoothed managed portfolio range in partnership with Wesleyan.

The Copia Select Smoothed portfolios, a range of five risk-rated managed portfolios, has been designed to help manage short-term volatility while maintaining the potential for long-term outperformance.

Each of the portfolios includes a 30% allocation to Wesleyan’s smoothed With Profits Fund, with the remaining allocation invested across a diversified mix of assets.

The smoothing mechanism within the with-profits fund holds back some returns in stronger markets to help support returns when markets fall, limiting the impact of volatility on the portfolios. This can help mitigate sequencing risk, particularly for clients who are drawing an income or planning to do so in the near future.

The portfolios are fully liquid, with daily dealing and no lag following disinvestment.

Tony Hicks, head of sales at Copia, said: “With valuations at historic highs in certain parts of the market, the Copia Select Smoothed range is designed to give advisers a practical solution for clients who want to stay invested but are concerned about volatility and sequencing risk.

“The new range offers advisers a useful option, particularly for more risk-averse clients or those approaching or already in retirement.”

Karen Blatchford, managing director, intermediary distribution at Wesleyan, added: “Innovative partnerships like this one with Copia are essential if we’re to make smoothing accessible to more clients at a time when market volatility remains a key concern.

“By wrapping our fund into a managed portfolio solution, we’re offering advisers a powerful way to help clients manage risk while staying focused on their long-term financial goals.”

The portfolios are live on the Wealthtime platform and will be available on Aberdeen, Hubwise and Nucleus soon, with plans to roll them out to more platforms later this year.

The total cost, including the OCF and DFM fee, is between 0.55% and 0.61%.
