Suitability Report Writing Course from Sparrow Solutions

11 January 2024

Sparrow Solutions founder Caroline Stuart is running a Report Writing Course, to help paraplanners and advisers craft great client reports.

The workshop takes place on Wednesday 21 February, starting at 9.30am. It provides three hours of CISI accredited CPD.

You can find out more here.  There are a limited number of places.

The workshop is a practical session to learn and develop the key skills needed by paraplanners when preparing client plans, suitability reports and regular reviews. It’s for anyone who wants to learn how to create and produce engaging reports and communications for clients that are compliant and meet Consumer Duty requirements.

Caroline says: We all know that our Suitability Reports and Plans need to explain to clients how our advice is suitable and right for them – but how can we do that in a clear, simple and engaging way?

“This practical workshop will help you to write client friendly plans and reports using plain English, whilst making sure you still include what you need from a compliance point of view. There’s also going to be practical examples and exercises to help bring it to life and really cement your learning for the future.”

What’s covered?
During the session, Caroline will be looking at:
• What the ‘Rules’ say needs to be included in a report, and what doesn’t?
• SMART goals and objectives and investment preferences
• How to write reports the client wants to read using language, tone and readability tricks as well as visual style and layout
• How to get your message across – focus on the why and release your inner storyteller!

There’s also going to be practical exercises which are fun, informal and will really help to reinforce those key points!

The learning objectives for the session are:
• What does COBs and FCA Rules say need to be in a suitability report?
• What aspects and areas do not need to be included?
• What should be covered in a comprehensive suitability report?
• How has Consumer Duty affected our reports?
• To learn the difference between a Financial Planning goal and an investment objective
• To learn how to write SMART objectives in your report that are personalised to the client
• How to write a report the client wants to read using language, visual styles and layout techniques.
• How to use language to make reports readable and easy for a client to understand.
• How can reports be made more inviting using graphics, colours, layout and styles.

Please note this is not a Professional Paraplanner organised workshop.
