Specialist EIS manager launches leisure-focussed Scale UP Tranche

26 October 2023

Specialist EIS manager Edition Capital, has launched a new Scale Up Tranche – bringing a pre-identified portfolio of five to six profitable investee companies to market.

This tranche of the Edition EIS targets investments into later-stage profitable businesses with revenues of up to £11m and profits of up to £1.5m at the point of investment – and will provide full deployment within the 2023/2024 tax year.

The portfolio includes new and follow-on investments in businesses previously supported during their growth trajectory – such as VR multi-player gaming company Sandbox VR, unique factual content producer Screendog Productions, Little Lion Entertainment (creator of The Crystal Maze Live and Tomb Raider Live Experience), retro arcade bar Four Quarters, and all-day dining company Morty & Bob’s.

Edition EIS is designed to provide investors with access to an under-represented sector within the EIS market, which is typically dominated by tech and generalist funds. The current portfolio of 34 investee companies is valued at c.£250m.

Harry Heartfield, senior partner at Edition Capital, commented: “This Edition EIS Scale Up Tranche brings some of the UK’s most exciting and ambitious leisure companies to market. Leisure is a key part of the UK economy and EIS provides vital funding for smaller companies within the industry. As leisure is underrepresented within the EIS sector – which is usually dominated by tech and generalist providers – the Edition EIS provides a differentiated offering for investors.”
