Emotional regulation and stress management for advisers

6 July 2026

The third module of Fidelity Adviser Solutions’ Emotional Intelligence series is here. This module focuses on self-awareness as an adviser, regulation of emotions and stress management.

Self-awareness is a fundamental skill within financial planning and as James Woodfall – Communication and Behaviour Specialist, puts it in this video, “You might think of self-awareness as simply understanding yourself, but in the world of advice, it’s more than that.”

In this third module, James talks to us about recognising our emotional state in the moment and the impact this can have on our communication with others.

Advisers have lots of plates spinning with complex client needs, market conditions, legislation – to name a few – and it’s key that you consider how all of these varying pressures make you feel.

In this third five-minute video, you’ll pick up tips on how to encourage your own self-awareness, build a sense of calm for clients and avoid adviser burnout.
