R06 – Support for candidates affected by January PSI system failures

31 January 2023

Luiza Todd, director of Bespoke Training Solutions writes:

Some of you may be aware that last week, candidates sitting the January R06 exam on Tuesday 24th via remote invigilation had a bit of a rocky ride (to say the least). Due to technology issues on the day, around 270+ candidates could not access their exams.

As a result of this, the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) have put on a second sitting of R06 scheduled for Wednesday 8 February. Questions asked will be different to the original exam but will be based on the same two case studies – Jim, Carol, and Jenny.

BTS in partnership with the CII are here to help.

As a result of this situation, BTS and the CII put their heads together to see what help could be offered to candidates finding themselves in this unfortunate position.

Any system can have technical failures, but when you are one of the people affected it can throw you off your game and make it hard to re-focus.

BTS have discussed and agreed our approach with the CII.

The CII, as we would expect, are looking to do everything they can to help candidates in this position. And hats off to them for doing so.

We think we have come up with something that will help get you back on track and keep you exam-ready leading up to the re-scheduled sitting on 8 February…

What support are BTS, in collaboration with the CII, offering?

As a result of these discussions, BTS and the CII are providing additional support to candidates affected by the system failures that impacted the 24 January R06 exam sitting.

BTS are offering remote R06 refresher sessions, repeated on the 2, 3 and 6 February. These sessions will be sponsored by the CII so will be at no cost to impacted candidates.

The sessions will:

  • be run remotely via Zoom.
  • run from 10am through to 3pm.
  • be available to all candidates who are due to sit their R06 exam on Tuesday 8 February
  • be capped at a maximum of 30 attendees per session.

The aim of these sessions is to:

  • keep candidates ‘ticking over’ in terms of their knowledge of the two case studies.
  • refresh candidates with the key facts relating to Jim, Carol and Jenny.
  • discuss possible technical areas that may be examined.
  • review the exam techniques that can make the difference between a pass and a ‘deferred success’.

How do candidates put their names down for a session?

CLICK HERE to find out more and register for a space on one of the free sessions.

We are allocating places on a first-come; first-served basis and will confirm your place by close of business on Wednesday 1 February.

So, get registering if you are in this position – these sessions will absolutely help so much.
