Two professional body CEOs to step down

21 January 2022

TISA and the CISI have announced that their respective CEOs’ David Dalton-Brown and Simon Culhane are to step down from their roles.

The Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) will bid farewell to its long-serving CEO Simon Culhane later this year.

Culhane, who was appointed as CEO in May 2004, will step down in September 2022.

During his tenure, CISI has grown its membership base to 26,000 across 75 countries, with offices across nine other countries.

Culhane said: “It has been a real honour and privilege to hold this position, for what will have been 18 years which have gone by in a flash. I feel that now is the right time to step down, after we celebrate our 30th anniversary this year.”

Commenting on Mr Culhane’s change of role, CISI Chair, Michael Cole-Fontayn, said: “The Board of Trustees recognise the significant contribution and dedication Simon has given to the Institute over nearly two decades as its CEO. Today, the CISI is a resilient and financially secure global body, which is widely respected by regulators and firms for its professionalism, qualifications, Continuing Professional Development and focus on integrity.

“Simon has been instrumental in the growth of our global community of members and has built many important relationships around the world which contribute to its success; therefore, it would be our intention to engage Simon in an international ambassadorial role for an appropriate period.”

The Investing and Saving Alliance (TISA) has announced that CEO David Dalton-Brown will swill leave at the end of January after five years at the helm of the organisation and 13 years at TISA in total. He leaves his role for family reasons.

The financial services membership group’s operations will now be split into two parts, with the creation of two new advisory boards; the Traditional Membership Business Unit which includes TISA’s strategic, policy and events work, and the Digital Business Unit, which covers TISA’s digital initiatives.

Carol Knight, current chief operating officer at TISA, will take over as CEO of the Traditional Membership Business Unit and Harry Weber-Brown, digital innovation director at TISA, will become CEO of TISA’s Digital Business Unit. Tony Stenning will remain as chairman of TISA Group.

Dalton-Brown said: “I am very pleased with what our team has accomplished during my time as CEO. It has been a privilege to lead and develop the business, and I will look back on my time at TISA fondly.

“The organisation is on a strong footing for future challenges and will, I’m sure, thrive as both a leading financial services membership organisation campaigning for better consumer outcomes and a digital innovation hub for the entire industry. I would like to thank the entire team for what we have achieved together and look forward to hearing about their continued success.”
