Paraplanner Survey discussion – Part 3: Technology – threat or enabler

6 July 2022

Recently Embark commissioned Research in Finance the publisher of Professional Paraplanner to undertake some in-depth research into the paraplanning market. The aim was to provide greater understanding of the key factors affecting paraplanners and their ability to successfully perform in their role – including areas like their working environment, the support they receive from their firms, paraplanning as a career, working with their advisers, and their thoughts on platforms and technology.

In edition to the Report on the findings, we brought together Neale Smith key accounts manager at Embark, Siân Davis Cole, director of Plan Works and co-founder of The Paraplanner Club, and Hamish Alexander, paraplanner with Acumen Financial Planning to discuss four themes from the research results:

  • Confidence in the paraplanner market
  • Paraplanners’ working relationship with advisers
  • Technology – threat or enabler?
  • How much there may be a gender gap in paraplanning

The discussion was facilitated by Rob Kingsbury, editor of Professional Paraplanner.

In Part 3, we discuss the third of those four themes:

  • Technology – threat or enabler?

The full length version of the discussion, lasting approximately 50 minutes is available HERE. We are also publishing the four themed sections of the discussion separately, for those who want to hone in on a particular theme.
