Technology provider Fintel has pledged to sponsor half of the next cohort of The Verve Group’s We are Change inititative, which gives participants of the programme the opportunity to gain financial qualifications without any financial barriers.
We are Change is part of The Verve Foundation, a not-for-profit arm which provides free training and qualifications to those looking to start a career in financial services. To do so, the company recruits sponsors and matches them with qualified candidates who will complete the programme.
The programme, which began in April 2021 with its first cohort, has reached almost 1,000 applications since launching. The scheme is now in its sixth cohort.
Making its pledge to sponsor half of the next cohort, Fintel, parent company of SimplyBiz, praised the initiative as “vitally important” to support the sector and its growth.
Matt Timmins, CEO of Fintel, said: “We are proud to be supporting the Verve Foundation and be part of the We Are Change initiative. We exist to inspire better outcomes in retail financial services, an incredibly important sector that helps people throughout their life. Ensuring that financial advice continues to thrive and meet evolving customer needs is our core purpose and fundamental to that is broadening access to talent in the industry. I look forward to seeing the benefits for all involved.”
Cathi Harrison, CEO of The Verve Group, commented: “We are blown away by the level of commitment Fintel are showing by sponsoring so many students. We hope that other companies will be inspired by their generosity to make moves in being the change we need in financial services.”
