The Professional Paraplanner Awards are all about celebrating the great work happening across the profession, and your achievements absolutely belong in that celebration.
Does self-nominating feel daunting? Sure it does, and you’re definitely not on your own with those feelings.
If you’re wondering whether putting yourself forward feels “right”, here are five encouraging reasons to take that step:
1. You’re allowed to be proud of the work you do
Paraplanning is detailed, it’s demanding and what you do, day in, day out is hugely valuable. That value isn’t always visible to others, in the same way that it is visible to you.
Where you’ve delivered work that you’re proud of, or made a meaningful impact, it’s okay to acknowledge that.
Self‑nomination is a way of saying: “What I’ve done matters.” And it does matter – so let’s not hesitate in saying that.
2. It’s an opportunity to reflect on how far you’ve come
We move quickly in this profession, often without stopping to acknowledge progress.
Completing a nomination gives you a moment to pause and appreciate the growth you’ve achieved, the expertise you’ve built upon and the sometimes-needed resilience we need in this ever-changing landscape.
That reflection alone can be motivating, regardless of the outcome.
3. Sharing your experience helps inspire others
By putting yourself forward, you’re not just recognising your own development, you’re showing others what’s possible.
When colleagues see someone take pride in what they do and confidently acknowledge their skills, it encourages them to invest in their own growth too.
Your story can motivate others to build on knowledge or capabilities, pursue qualifications, stretch their abilities and keep moving forward in their careers.
Sometimes seeing a peer step up is exactly the spark someone else needs to believe in their own potential.
4. Self-nominating is a positive contribution to the entire profession
Paraplanners and administrators that takes pride in their work, that are willing to step forward and share their achievements, play a part in shaping the future of the profession. And we need that.
These reflections and ultimately self-nomination, highlights what great paraplanning looks like today.
Your nomination contributes to a broader understanding of the skills, standards and values that move the profession forward.
By sharing your experience, you help strengthen the profession as a whole and demonstrate what meaningful, high‑quality paraplanning looks like in practice.
5. You deserve to be part of this celebration
Our tenth‑anniversary Awards are about recognising the talented people whose work strengthens the profession and helps the profession’s forward motion.
If you’ve contributed to that in any way, big or small, you absolutely deserve to be a part of that. Self‑nomination simply ensures you ARE a part of the celebration.
If you’ve been hesitating, let this be the encouragement you need:
You are worthy of recognition, and now is the perfect time to put yourself forward.
