Climate charity The Global Returns Project (GRP) has partnered with a number of firms, including investment platform Platform One, wealth planning firm First Wealth and private equity firm Zetland Capital, to enable advisers to offer philanthropic services to clients.
GRP works with a team of environmental scientists to select a diverse portfolio of high-impact climate mitigation charities, which it assesses every six months to ensure they are performing well.
Over the coming months, Platform One will develop a tool whereby advisers can, with client consent, make withdrawals from client accounts directly to GRP’s portfolio of climate and nature charities, via platform software.
Alexander Cowan-Sanluis, CEO at Platform One, said: “We have many firms asking how to set up philanthropic trusts for clients. Their clients are thinking about estate planning, how to pass money on to charity and children. Enabling charitable giving through our platform addresses this demand and offers a simple option. We’re delighted to be the second UK platform planning to offer direct philanthropic giving, thanks to this new partnership.”

In addition, the charity said its partnerships with First Wealth and Zetland Capital demonstrate an increasing demand for its services within financial planning and investment management.
First Wealth will offer GRP’s portfolio as an option for clients and make regular donations as a corporate. Meanwhile, Zetland Capital will donate regularly as a part of the firm’s sustainability initiatives and strategy.
