Castlefield appoints James Buckley to Sustainable European Fund

1 September 2023

Castlefield has appointed James Buckley as lead manager of the CFP Castlefield Sustainable European Fund with effect from 1 September.

James joins Castlefield from Cantor Fitzgerald Ireland where he held the position of head of Equity Research since 2021. Prior to joining Cantor Fitzgerald, James was head of European Equities at Barings for over 14 years from 2005. Earlier in his career, he held a number of other fund management roles at Premier Asset Management and Brown Shipley. He is also a Trustee Investment Advisor for the Noel Buxton Trust.

James will replace the outgoing manager, Rory Hammerson, who is leaving Castlefield to take over the family business focusing on sustainable agriculture after the recent death of his father. James will play an integral role within the robust 15-strong investment team ensuring continuity and a smooth transition.

Castlefield has also expanded its client services team with the appointment of Bronwyn Riley as client manager, bringing 12 years of experience from her time at Tilney. In her role, Bronwyn will use her industry experience to enhance Castlefield’s client service proposition, with a particular focus on charity and private clients.

John Eckersley, founder and senior partner at Castlefield commented: “We are dedicated to attracting top talent, in turn aligned with Castlefield’s ‘thoughtful’ values and helping to drive our vision. James and Bronwyn have exactly those characteristics and will both play an important part within the business, supporting our long-term sustainable growth.”
