30 July 2026

Transfer times at People’s Pension are down by more than half, latest data from Origo’s Transfer Services has shown.

The master trust, which manages pensions from over seven million members and more than £40bn in assets, saw its transfer times nearly halved to 13.5 days in May 2026.

The People’s Pension’s involvement with the Origo Transfer Service is part of a deliberate and sustained focus on delivering great outcomes for its members the master trust said. It has already helped improve its members experience of transfers and is part of an ongoing programme of enhancements.

The Origo Transfer Service was launched in 2008 as an industry-wide network which enables the secure and quick transfers of pensions, GIAs and ISAs. It currently handles 1.6 million transfers each year, with over £70bn in customer assets transferred annually.

Angela Staral, Chief Operating Officer for People’s Pension said: “The work with Origo reflects People’s Pension’s commitment to great customer outcomes. Where people have made a well-informed decision to transfer their pension and appropriate scam safeguards have been met, the process should happen as smoothly and quickly as possible.

“Speed is only part of the picture. It’s really important that savers can compare pensions accurately and confidently, helping them choose a product that is right for them and that delivers good value for their retirement.

“Being part of Origo’s Transfer Service has helped to produce the results we are currently witnessing, and we look forward to seeing how our relationship can continue to improve our members’ experience of transfers.”

Anthony Rafferty, CEO of Origo, added that transfer times “can tell us a lot about what’s happening in the industry.

“It has been a good year in that regard, and the superb reduction in transfer times by People’s Pension is indicative of that. I am glad to see they are benefiting from our technology and processes with such a remarkable improvement in their transfer times.

“Heading into the second half of the year, there will be a number of market development shifts in policy that we will all have to negotiate together.

“The key focus will be on the customer and transfer times will form a big part of how we measure that.”
