New paraplanner webinar series from Canada Life to tackle technical and tax issues
8 April 2018
Canada Life is launching a series of new webinars specifically designed to answer the most common and difficult questions facing paraplanners.
The company will be running three webinars over the next few weeks via its Paraplanner Academy. These will focus on achieving the right order of gifting, how to get the most from a discounted gift trust and transforming estate planning using a flexible reversionary trust.
The webinars will look in-depth at complex technical topics, with presenters including Professional Paraplanner technical article contributor Kim Jarvis.
Karen Stacey, Head of Distribution Services at Canada Life, said: “These webinars are designed around the unique needs of paraplanners. That means really drilling down into how the different options work and making the right choices to help build a comprehensive estate planning strategy. The CPD-grade webinars are hosted by some of the leading technical authorities working in financial services.
“So in exchange for less than an hour of their time, paraplanners will be able to learn about essential topics and ask questions from some of the industry’s acknowledged leading lights.”
Schedule of Paraplanner Academy Series webinars:
18 April 11:00am – 11:45am
Passing wealth on to the next generation can seem straightforward but there are pitfalls for the unwary. Getting the order of gifting right can result in a big cut in IHT, while getting it wrong could mean a large and unnecessary tax bill. Using straightforward examples, our webinar reveals the right order in which to use loan trusts, exemptions, chargeable lifetime transfers and potentially exempt transfers.
16 May 11:00am – 11:45am
The structure, IHT benefits and income tax efficiencies of Discounted Gift Trusts come under the microscope in this, our most popular webinar topic to date. We look at the advantages and disadvantages for both clients and advisers and how these can work with capital redemption policies as well as both onshore and offshore investment bonds.
31 May 11:00am – 11:45am
Are clients looking to reduce their potential IHT bill and still receive a regular income? Flexible reversionary trusts brilliantly balance access and IHT efficiency. All growth is outside the estate immediately, and the lump sum gifted into the trust is outside after seven years, but your clients can still receive periodic payments. Join us as we look at how these trusts can transform an estate planning strategy.
