Last minute place for Birmingham Technical Insight Seminar
3 May 2017
Birmingham here we come!
Now in their third year, the Professional Paraplanner Technical Insight Seminars are running from May to November 2017, starting in Birmingham.
We kick off our 2017 Technical Insight Seminars at the Crowne Plaza, Birmingham City Centre on 9 May.
Due to last minute cancellations we have additional places available at Birmingham.
Tickets are free to paraplanners, so if you’ve yet to sign up do so now by emailing [email protected] and we’ll be delighted to see you on the day.
Professional Paraplanner has gathered a range of expert speakers for our Technical Insight Seminars, covering, best practice, pensions technical updates, retirement planning, regulation, portfolio building, risk profiling, best use of technology and more, all with an educational theme.
Once again we will be running the events using the format that you tell us you like, a combination of plenary speakers and smaller sized workshops, allowing for more detailed questioning of the workshop presenters and the ability to discuss issues relevant to your day-to-day work.
Some of our expert speakers confirmed for this year are:
Paul Squirrell, National Pensions Sales Manager, FundsNetwork.
Paul will be looking to help paraplanners stay ahead of the continually changing regulation surrounding pensions. Paul’s session will be a technical update, covering the latest themes and insights.
Paul was one of our most popular technical speakers at the 2016 series of events and will be presenting at all five Technical Insight Seminars in 2017.
Graham Miller, managing director, O&M Systems.
Graham’s presentation, Supporting Paraplanners with Independent Software, will cover areas such as positioning of Cash ISA, Stocks and Shares ISA and Pensions in a single client facing suitability report, pension switching, annuities and drawdown, compliant reporting, ways to help clients understand the impact of inflation on portfolios and retirement income, retirement income modelling, and the future of TVAS and DB pension scheme analysis. It’s going to be jam packed session.
Michelle Hoskin, managing director, Standards International will be one of our plenary speakers. You can expect a set of highly motivational presentations from Michelle, full of ideas and suggestions of ways you can create better processes and efficiencies and tackle those working day issues to deliver ever better service to your clients.
Michelle will also provide an update on the Paraplanning Standard being developed by Standards International.
Blake Crawford, executive director and portfolio manager within the J.P. Morgan Asset Management European Equity Group.
The title of Blake’s session will look at Millennials, changing demographics and disrupters. He will address the themes that paraplanners need to consider when constructing financial plans now and in the future, taking into account the different needs of millennials and the impact of an ageing population in the UK.
David Oliphant of Columbia Threadneedle
David’s session covers a key issue for paraplanners looking to deliver retirement income for clients: Where to next for bonds? We have seen an unprecedented 35-year bull market for Fixed Income but with interest rates beginning to increase in the US and some other markets and with a pick up in growth and inflationary pressures, where are bonds headed?
Solomon Nevis, fund manager, Architas
Solomon is co-manager of the Architas Diversified Real Assets, Monthly High Income, Diversified Global Income and Strategic Bond funds, as well as leading the research and analysis on alternative assets and UK fixed income. Solomon will be presenting on how alternatives can be used in the important task of generating income for clients.
Bobby Owen, Investec Structured Products
Another popular speaker at our London conference in 2016, the title of Bobby’s session is Facts in a ‘Post Truth’ world, looking at the presentation of risk, and tying that in to a few of the lingering misconceptions around structured products. Alongside the real learning objectives there will be some audience interaction as part of the educational material.
