CRPs and suitability – Investment Committee Seminar 28 Feb

2 February 2024

Central Retirement Proposition suitability and understanding the new regulations around ESG investing will feature as part of our our first CPD Investment Committee Seminar of the year, on 28 February in London.

For anyone involved in the research and recommendation of investments, as well as building and decumulating retirement planning, this event will deliver exceptionally good value for a day out of the office. It will be especially useful for any paraplanner involved with or inputting to their firm’s Investment Committee.

The event is eligible for CPD.

What’s on the agenda?

For anyone using Central Retirement Propositions, there will be a deep dive into use of these systems and why, as the FCA has indicated, they are not simply the investment solutions used to manage a client’s income in decumulation. It’s important that paraplanners know what and how they need to document and include in suitability reports. Christian Markwick, head of Adviser Support at The Verve Group will be presenting on this ‘pet subject’.

With the higher emphasis on sustainable investing within portfolios and the regulatory crackdown on greenwashing, a key presentation will be from Lee Coates of ESGAccord, a consultancy working with the regulator and numerous high profile businesses, who will explain how the new SDR labels will affect paraplanning under Consumer Duty and should be handled in suitability report writing.

Also on the agenda are:

James Bird, Director, Fidelity: Back to the future in 2024: a year of elections, recessions and everything in between

Chris Ellis Thomas, co-portfolio manager of the BlackRock MyMap fund range on managing low cost portfolios in the new regime.

Tara Jameson, CFA, Co-Manager of the Schroder Global Multi-Asset Portfolios: 3D Reset – deglobalisation, demographics, and decarbonisation

Bill Dinning, CIO, Waverton on multi-manager portfolio construction and the role of 60/40 now income is back

Amy Rumsby, TIME Investments on the Power of Income: Utilising alternatives to help fund retirement
