Paraplanners run half marathon in aid of Cancer Research
17 August 2017
Caroline Stuart, head of Technical Solutions, DB Wood and Rachel Kitching, operations director for Cooper Parry Wealth (ex-paraplanner with the company and our cover star back in September 2014), will be running a half marathon in October for Cancer Research.
Rachel was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2016, while 7 months pregnant. She delayed her treatment until son Noah could be induced at 37 weeks. Rachel had surgery five days later, followed by four months of chemotherapy and will be on medication for the next 10 years.
Caroline says: “Rachel is amazing, a total hero and I am now out training so I can run the half marathon with her in October to raise money for Cancer Research.”
As well as the half marathon, Rachel and Caroline are running the Leicester 10k in September. Rachel has a Justgiving page, linked here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/rachel-kitching
On that page, she says: “It’s important to me to give something back to the incredible people working in medical science, whose work I have certainly benefited from. Cancer Research UK is a big charity, but an important one. The work they do is saving lives every day, including mine. And it’s funded by people like you and me. I’d be incredibly grateful if you could spare a few quid. Thank you.”
